7 more reasons I loved Saturday

After a great adventure in the market yesterday, Nicole and I stopped by (1) Cafe Escriba for a cappuccino. The cafe is known for it´s gorgeous pastries, and Nicole selected a chocolate croissant. And while the breads and tortes steal the show, the bathroom was the best one I´d been in here -- super clean and pleasant smelling! Always important :-)

We continued on from Cafe Escriba along La Rambla in the sun and stumbled upon another tent market full of crafts. I bought my first personal souvenir of the trip -- (2) a pair of earrings that look like they´re made from silver and wood.

From there we returned to the water front, one of our favorite areas of the city. We sat on the docks of (3) Rambla de la Mar and people watched for quite a while.

When we were ready to move again we continued our stroll through Port Vell until we found (4) a band performing for a large crowd. They were the best performers we´d heard yet, and we decided to buy their CD. I was very impressed with their ability to both draw and hold a crowd.

By this time it was time to head back to the hostel, and at the main square before our road, we saw tents, balloons, and a large crowd. It was an HIV/AIDS event and there were so many beautiful name quilts. It was nice to walk through and look at the individual squares to see the (5) celebration of life and remembrance of lives.

Back at the hostel Nicole and I cleaned up to head back out for another night of tapas. This time we selected a restaurant that our friend Bethay recommended. This time around the (6) mini hamburgers with sweet onions were the best -- yes, one of the best burgers I have ever had.

To top off the tapas, we stopped at a (7) Bomboneria and each selected a chocolate to enjoy on the way home. Too bad we stopped at one.

OH, and I guess there is an 8th reason to add to the one from yesterday! I have been eyeing a purse at one of the tent markets all week (2 from the same stand) and I finally decided to buy one of the two on the way to tapas. When we arrived one of them was gone, and thankfully I really loved the other. Until Istanbul, my personal souvenir shopping *has* to over...blast the currency conversion rate!

It´s a good thing Friday and Saturday were so nice because today was not what we expected! But I´ll have to write about that another time because I need to pack up my bag since we check out in the morning and move to another hostel.

Cheers <3
