Eagle-eye Nicole
Remember that good night sleep I had the first night? Well the events of last night (night #2) prompted me to start each future post with the ¨nightly sleep report¨. To recap the lovely events leading to this new report:
1) I couldn´t fall asleep last night...but on top of that, I wasn´t even tired! Maybe it was the endorphins pumping from walking until 9pm. Perhaps it was the triple threat medicinal cocktail I had in my system. And I´m sure the fact that my arms were on fire didn´t help either. I think I finally fell asleep around 1am.
2) Two of my roommates busted in around 3:15 and talked at regular volume.
3) Some obnoxious guys from the room next door woke up the entire hostel (so I´ve learned today) by entering at 4am and shouting back and forth down the halls and tromping around.
And so by 4:15 I was up for good. That means my fingers are composing this post without much help from my brain.
When we left the hostel, we started off for the Palau de Musica Catalana -- only to learn they had already sold out for the day, so we´re turning tomorrow. From there we devised a new game plan from a nearby bench. A sweet woman thought we were lost and looking up direction, and she approached us in Spanish to offer her assistance.
We decided to take a tour of Casa Batllo, but before that eagle-eye Nicole spotted several places to visit:
1) Starbucks for a Dark Mocha Frap...yum!
2) The Happy Pills store I had read about a few weeks ago.
3) The Universitat de Barcelona -- we walked around the campus for a bit!
4) Cacao Sampaka, a very nice chocolate store with all kinds of interesting treats. We didn´t buy anything but have vowed to return.
Although Nicole keeps spotting the sweet candy I had researched, she noted that I keep spotting eye candy checking *us* out -- especially one of the life guards yesterday!!!
Egads, running out of time already on the computer. Okay, we saw two fabulous places this afternoon -- Casa Batllo and the Parc de la Ciutedella. The Parc has an Arc de Triomf at one end, and I LOVED it. The Arc in Paris is my favorite momument in the city, and the one here rivals Port Vell for my favorite part of the city so far.
Nicole and I enjoyed a quite dinner at the hostel and a great conversation...we´re practicing our ¨crucial conversation¨ skills and doing quite nicely!
After that we learned that we have NEW roomies and they all seem great -- HOORAH. So nice to finally connect with the people I´m sharing a room with!
Buenas noches and hasta tarde!
