London, Day 5, 01.01.07

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Guess what -- another day of sleeping in, thanks to jetlag, coupled with staying out late :-)

When we finaly got going, it was about 30 minutes until the start of the New Years Parade. We made our way to Parliament St. just in time and found a decent space to stand to watch for about an hour. The crowd was really relaxed and low key, and again, we hear so many languages and accents and it is so refreshing to take it all in.

My main gripe about London is the lack of toilets, free or fee-based. We wondered around for ages trying to find one, and finally managed to find one when we arrived at Piccadilly Circus. All of the shops, cafes, and restaurants had been closed on other streets, but Piccadilly was alive and bustling with traffic. TGI Fridays sounded more appealing than fast food, so we got to rest our feet a bit before heading down Piccadilly for window shopping.

All of the internet cafes have been closed the past couple of days, but we managed to find the *best deal yet* in the lower leevl of a huge shop. Tomorrow we head to Paris *bright and early* on the Eurostar and may not be back on the net until Thursday.
